Darryl Yap Defends MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto Against Basher

Darryl Yap shared a post talking about MTRCB’s letter to his movie distributor

Director Darryl Yap defended Movie and Television Review and Classification Board chairman Lala Sotto against a basher.

Darryl is currently promoting his controversial Pepsi Paloma movie. He already announced the cinema release date which is on February 5. The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court ordered the director to take down the movie teaser which mentioned the name of veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto.

After this, Darryl shared on his Facebook page that their next step was to get MTRCB‘s review as they already submitted the movie.

However, the agency stressed in a statement that they haven’t started the review since the movie distributor had to submit certain requirements from the RTC, DOJ, and Prosecutor’s office.

In his post about this, Darryl stressed that he had no idea that there were additional requirements for the movie review since he already made 16 movies and nothing like this happened before.

He also clarified his past statement regarding the “review.” “Pag pumunta ka sa MTRCB, natural papareview ka, so sabi ko nung nakapasok na sa portal ng distributor at nandun na sila sa MTRCB, nagpapareview kami o nirereview na. Hindi naman nandun iyon for safekeeping,” he stressed.

Direk Darryl said that he respects MTRCB if the agency has not started reviewing his movie but he should not be tagged as a liar just because of a small detail.

The director’s post received a comment from a netizen who bashed MTRCB chair Lala Sotto. “BABALU SOTTO,” the netizen commented. However, Darryl Yap defended the daughter of former Senator Tito Sotto and the niece of Vic Sotto. The director stressed that he respects Chair Sotto.

Mataas ang respeto ko kay Chair Lala. nung sinabihan siya ng tagaABSCBN nyan— isa ako sa nagtanggol na wag sya bastusin sa pamamagitan ng panlalait,” he said.
