Darryl Yap finished filming for his Pepsi Paloma movie
Controversial director Darryl Yap revealed why making the Pepsi Paloma movie is “masalimuot.”
Darryl’s latest project became a controversial topic on social media from the time when he first announced up until now that it is nearing its release date.
With this project, the director faced a legal battle with veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto who filed 19 counts of cyber libel against him. It is because the movie’s teaser mentioned Bossing Vic and recalled the r@pe case filed by the late actress Pepsi Paloma in 1984.
Amid the polarizing comments online regarding this controversial movie, Direk Darryl Yap announced that the movie will be released on February 5. This was announced along with the release of the official trailer.
In a Facebook post on January 22, the controversial director shared a post announcing that they finished the filming for this movie but they went through a lot. Some of the distributors backed out and the initial songs they wanted to use were no longer allowed to be used. This is aside from the aforementioned fact that this movie prompted a legal battle.
“Bagamat naging masalimuot ang paggawa ng pelikula—kasama na ang pagpull-out ng mga distributors, pagbawi ng permiso para sa mga awit na gagamitin, pagharap sa mga reklamo at marami pang-iba,” Direk Darryl shared.
Despite what happened, the director said, “Natapos namin.” The director thanked the musicians who helped them to have an all-original soundtrack for the Pepsi Paloma movie. He said that he would not forget this generous gesture from them.
Direk Darryl also expressed gratitude to everyone who continued supporting the movie and this will be embedded in his heart. “Maaaring kulang sa pera at koneksyon—pero hindi kami kapos sa tapang at paninindigan. We have finished the film tonight, It will be ready for review,” he said.
Direk Darryl Yap added that the Filipinos will soon be able to watch the “Hubad na Katotohanan.”
