Gordon Ramsay recently made waves in the Philippines by visiting a wet market in Quezon City during his first trip to the country. Known for his fiery personality and culinary prowess, Ramsay was spotted exploring the Farmers Market in Araneta City, as shared in photos posted on the market’s Facebook page on January 21.
Ramsay’s visit was far more than a simple sightseeing trip. He actively interacted with local vendors, inspecting fresh produce and learning about Filipino ingredients and food culture. The chef also took time to enjoy a meal at a modest eatery within the market, immersing himself in the lively and authentic atmosphere that these markets are famous for.
This visit was part of Ramsay’s busy schedule, which included the launch of his new restaurant in Pasay City. While in the Philippines, he held a cooking demonstration featuring Filipino actress Judy Ann Santos, as well as popular content creators Abi Marquez and Ninong Ry. Together, they tackled the challenge of making their own versions of the iconic Filipino dessert, halo-halo, under Ramsay’s expert guidance.
In addition to his culinary showcase, Ramsay connected with local chefs and food enthusiasts, sharing his passion for elevating culinary standards. He also discussed plans to expand his restaurant presence in the Philippines, highlighting his interest in contributing to the country’s dynamic food scene.
