₱15,000 Cash Aid Available for Eligible College Students
COLLEGE STUDENTS – Eligible college students have the opportunity to receive ₱15,000 in financial assistance from the government.
Around 137,000 college students across the Philippines are set to benefit from the government’s Tulong Dunong Program (TDP), which has been allocated a P2.06 billion budget under the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
According to a report from the Inquirer, Quezon City Representative Marvin Rillo, vice chairperson of the House of Representatives’ Higher and Technical Education Committee, revealed that each beneficiary will receive P15,000 in financial aid for the academic year. “Under the 2025 General Appropriations Law, Congress allocated P2.06 billion for the TDP, which provides grantees with P7,500 per semester or P15,000 annually,” Rillo stated on Sunday.
Rillo, who also serves as a member of the House Appropriations Panel, reaffirmed Congress’ commitment to maintaining the program’s yearly funding. “We are firmly dedicated to sustaining the TDP’s annual funding, which has alleviated the financial challenges of students pursuing higher education,” he added.
The TDP, managed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), is one of the government’s initiatives to subsidize tertiary education. Its goal is to reduce the financial burden on college students by helping cover education-related expenses.
Eligibility for the program requires both new and continuing beneficiaries to be enrolled in an undergraduate course at any CHEd-accredited public or private college or university. Applicants must submit certified true copies or electronically generated certificates of enrollment from their respective schools.
According to the report, the financial assistance is designed to support students with education-related costs, allowing them to concentrate on their studies without excessive financial strain.
The continued funding of the TDP underscores the government’s dedication to expanding access to higher education and aiding Filipino students in reaching their academic aspirations. This initiative supports the push for inclusive education and aims to empower the country’s youth to build better futures for themselves and their communities.
