Darryl Yap is facing 19 counts of cyber libel
Director Darryl Yap reacted to the cyber libel complaints filed by veteran comedian-host Vic Sotto.
Darryl’s Pepsi Paloma movie prompted Vic’s decision to bring the matter to the court. The late actress, based on records, accused Vic, Joey de Leon, and Richie D’Horsie of abusing her s=xually.
However, the case that she filed reportedly was retracted and write-ups circulated that she said that no abuse happened. Direk Darryl intended to retell the story of Pepsi Paloma through his upcoming movie.
However, even though a teaser was only released, the movie has become controversial already. It was because Vic’s name was mentioned in the teaser and this received a reaction from the Eat Bulaga host.
Vic Sotto formally filed 19 counts of cyber libel against Darryl Yap on January 9. His legal counsel, Atty. Buko dela Cruz said that they also filed a case against those who shared or reposted the teaser.
In his Facebook post on Thursday, Direk Darryl shared his reaction to Bossing Vic’s decision to file a case.
He said that everyone has the liberty to file a complaint as no one monopolized justice and truth. “Malaya ang sinuman na magsampa ng reklamo, para mas maging malinaw ang totoo. Dahil sa huli, Katotohanan lang ang depensa sa lahat ng Katanungan,” he said.
Then, the director asked a series of questions and the answer was the caption “oo” or “yes” in the photo he shared with this post which was taken from Rhed Bustamante’s scene with Gina Alajar in the Pepsi Paloma movie teaser.
Based on his post, Pepsi retracted the case she filed and her complaint was not proven but it was recorded that she filed a case against Vic Sotto. He stressed that the teaser did not lie because this was in publications, deleted videos, and old newspapers.
The director stressed that this was known by people who knew this before and those who are asking about this now. “Delia, Pepsi— Babalik tayo sa Korte [slightly smiling face emoji]. Ang Pilipino sa Sinehan,” Darryl Yap said.
