Devastating Hawaii Fireworks Explosion Ends Lives of 2 Filipinas
HAWAII FIREWORKS – The tragic Hawaii fireworks blast has claimed the lives of two Filipinas, leaving their families in deep sorrow.
Fireworks explosions pose several potential dangers. Fireworks contain combustible materials that can easily ignite, posing a significant risk of fires, especially in dry or windy conditions.
This can lead to damage to properties, vegetation, and even loss of life.

Two of the three individuals who reportedly died in a New Year’s Eve fireworks explosion in Honolulu, Hawaii, were Filipina siblings. The tragic incident also left at least 20 others injured, highlighting the devastating impact of the explosion.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has yet to issue a statement, but a report by GMA News confirmed the fatalities through a relative of the victims. Sisters Carmelita Turalva Benigno and Nelly Turalva Ibarra were among those who lost their lives, with Carmelita’s nephew, Rylan Benigno, providing the confirmation.

In addition to the siblings, Carmelita’s son, daughter, niece, and a three-year-old grandchild sustained severe burns and are currently receiving medical treatment. The explosion was reportedly caused by fireworks described by authorities as a “cake” or a cluster of tubes containing up to 50 aerial rockets.
The GMA News report highlighted that the Philippine consulate general in Honolulu is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the Honolulu Police Department to provide support and updates to the victims and their families. This tragedy underscores the urgent need for improved safety measures during celebratory events involving fireworks, especially in crowded areas. The community and authorities are working together to ensure a thorough investigation and to prevent similar incidents in the future.
