These few days, Direk Darryl has become a trending topic on social media. It is because of the posts he shared introducing the cast members of his movie The R@pists Of Pepsi Paloma.

In a previous post, Direk Darryl Yap stressed that the movie is about Pepsi Paloma and not about TVJ, as he has nothing against the trio or anyone else who may be included in the story.

The online community has polarizing comments on this bold move that the director made in telling the story of his “kababayan.” Although there are netizens who expressed excitement to watch the movie and showed support for his artistry, Direk Darryl was also criticized by many.

One of the personalities who had a negative reaction to Darryl’s upcoming movie was Arnold Clavio. In an Instagram post, the Kapuso journalist said that artistic freedom may be used as na excuse but the law speaks a different language.

Puwedeng magtago sa artistic freedom ang direktor pero hindi sa mga umiiral na batas . Maliban kung may public record ang korte batay sa akusasyon. Baka iyon ang intensyon , ang manggulat!” the Unang Hirit host said.

Arnold also mentioned the interview that journalist Julius Babao had with Coca Nicolas, Pepsi’s fellow Softdrink Beauty. In the interview, Coca said that the r@pe complaint was fabricated by their manager at that time Dr. Rey Dela Cruz. Coca also said that she and Pepsi were close as they were living in the same apartment.

“Nagpapa-kontrobersya ang nasa likod ng pelikula at ang pag-iingay na ito ay malinaw na paghingi ng simpatiya,” Arnold said, adding that the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) will definitely not allow the “paninira.”

Tandaan , sa mundong ginagalawan natin hindi dapat mawala ang respeto sa kapwa at pagiging disente . May mga norms at ethics na dapat sundan,” the Kapuso journalist stressed.

On his Facebook page, Darryl Yap reposted a post from a social media page featuring the statement made by Arnold Clavio. The director captioned his repost with a simple “ge.”

After this, Direk Darryl said that Pepsi Paloma and Coca Nicolas were never close.
