Here’s Where Dennis Trillo Donated His MMFF Best Actor Prize

DENNIS TRILLO – Kapuso actor Dennis Trillo selflessly donates his MMFF Best Actor prize to support persons deprived of liberty, turning his recognition into a meaningful act of kindness.

Dennis Trillo once again showed his compassion and generosity by donating his ₱100,000 cash prize, earned as Best Actor at the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), to persons deprived of liberty (PDLs). Inspired by the PDLs whose stories formed the basis of the prison drama Green Bones, Dennis expressed his desire to grant their simple wishes.

During the Gabi ng Parangal on Friday, Dennis received a silver statuette crafted by Filipino-American artist Jefre Manuel Figueras and a cash prize. Green Bones, produced by GMA Pictures in partnership with Brightburn Entertainment, also won the prestigious Best Picture award. In the film, Dennis portrays a PDL nearing release, while Ruru Madrid plays a determined prison guard aiming to keep him behind bars.

“Isa sa pinaka-mensahe ng pelikula ay patungkol sa kabutihan ng tao,” Dennis said, explaining his decision to donate the prize. “Kung tayo ay may kakayahang makatulong, piliin natin na tumulong kaya naman wala ng pagdadalawang isip pa.” Together with his wife, Jennylyn Mercado, Dennis decided to fulfill the PDLs’ wishes through their Tree of Hope project, as a way of giving back to the people whose stories inspired Green Bones.

In his acceptance speech, Dennis expressed gratitude for his third MMFF acting trophy, recalling his earlier wins as Best Supporting Actor for Aishite Imasu 1941 in 2004 and Best Actor for One Great Love in 2018. He dedicated this latest honor to his family and Jennylyn, his “No. 1 supporter.”

“Maraming salamat po. Hinding-hindi ko makakalimutan ito. Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino!” he concluded.
