Cathy Garcia wanted to produce a BTS concert in the Philippines but…
Award-winning Director Cathy Garcia-Sampana shared her reaction when she learned about the talent fee of the K-pop group BTS.
Direk Cathy did blockbuster movies over the years. Her latest masterpiece Hello, Love, Again, is the current top-grossing Filipino film featuring Asia’s Superstar Kathryn Bernardo and Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards.
Aside from being a director, Direk Cathy is now also wearing the manager’s hat. Based on the article in Bandera, the director recently launched the talent agency Klinjk (read as Klinik) which is under her production company NICKL Entertainment.

Currently, they have 19 artists signed under the company, composed of actors, singers songwriters, and dancers.
Direk Cathy Garcia-Sampana shared that her desire to put up a talent management company started with her team learned how expensive it is to bring foreign talents and have a concert here in the Philippines. She said that she inquired about BTS before.
“Kinukuha namin yung BTS mag-concert nu’n tapos nu’ng makita ko yung presyo, Diyos ko mahihimatay ako! If only a tenth of it can be paid to Filipino artists, ang saya sana,” she said.
With this, she wondered why this is the case because Filipinos are so talented also. “So kailangan mahalin muna natin yung sariling atin,” she added.

Aside from that reason, Direk Cathy also shared that as a director, sometimes there were instances that she wanted to send a talent home because she could not get the acting that a character requires.
Having a talent agency, it would be easy for her to find a certain talent for a certain character that her project wants. “So here we may be starting small lang pero mapapakita natin yung talento ng Pilipino,” the director said.
Meanwhile, Direk Cathy Garcia-Sampana shared that she is open to collaborating with ABS-CBN and Star Magic for future projects. She already talked to Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast of ABS-CBN Corporation Cory Vidanes about this, and the executive told her to talk about this with Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi.
