Julia Montes is one of the lead stars of this MMFF entry
Kapamilya actress Julia Montes shared the challenges she encountered while filming the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Topakk.
This movie features actor-politician Arjo Atayde as the lead actor. The action movie is directed by Richard Somes. Since this is an action film, Julia had to do some action scenes. This is not the first time that Julia has done action scenes because she also did action-packed series in the past.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, Julia shared that she had cuts and bruises after doing the action scenes. However, she was thankful that their director guided her.

Despite the challenging scenes, Julie Montes said that she is excited for people to watch what they made.
“More than fears, mas excited ako kasi maganda ‘yung kuwento, ‘yung film, ‘yung purpose and advocacy ng film. ‘Yung na-experience naman na nasaktan, hindi na namin na-feel ‘yun kasi nasa moment na kami ng eksena,” the Kapamilya actress said.
Julia also shared what she noticed when doing an action genre. She said that one should not just be steady and preoccupied because, with just one wrong move, the other cast member will also make a mistake. She stressed the importance of rhythm.
Then, Julia shared the time when she hurt herself because of a certain scene. That was his confrontation scene with Arjo’s character.
“Eh, nahiya naman akong i-cut (ang eksena) para sabihin na ‘teka lang napako ako!’., so, ang ginawa ko dahil intense ‘yung eksena, wala sa akin ‘yung camera doon ko hinugot ‘yung pako,” she shared. Before falling on the floor, her knees hit it.
Julia Montes added that this is how artists are so committed to their craft. Sometimes they are not thinking very well if they are already equipped to do a certain scene but they still do anyway because of their passion.
“Siyempre kapag may baril, automatic ‘yan mag-iingat kasi may mga sparks na lalabas diyan. Kapag action, huwag masyadong in the zone. Kasi kaming mga artista pag nag-e-enjoy kami, gusto namin kami na ang gagawa para kuha na ‘yung shot,” she said.
Julia Montes also shared that it was not difficult working with Arjo Atayde. She said that by just looking at the actor, it would be easy for her to go along. It was easy for her to do her scenes because of her co-stars who are really good.
