SPD explained why Neri Miranda was included in this list
When reports surfaced that celebrity entrepreneur Neri Miranda was arrested, it was said that she was number in the list of Top 10 Most Wanted.
The wife of Parokya Ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda was arrested due to the syndicated estafa case that was filed against her and the allegation that she violated the Securities Regulation Code.
It was clarified just recently by the Southern Police District why a warrant of arrest was issued against Neri.
Reportedly, based on the information that the SPD had, Neri Miranda failed to show up in court twice, so the warrant of arrest was served.
PMAJ Hazel Asilo, Public Information Office Chief of SPD, based on the article in Bandera, explained that Neri being included in the Top 10 Most Wanted might be because of the gravity of the complaints filed against her.
“It’s because of the number of counts of her case. Kasi 14 counts po ‘yung kanyang case, 14 counts of violation of section 28 of the RA 8799, as well as ‘yung syndicated estafa,” Asilo said.
She also explained that they are based on the number of counts and the gravity of the case. This goes also with the bail that the accused had to comply with to gain liberty. These are just among the factors that they consider in making the Top 10 Most Wanted.
When asked what the cases included in the Most Wanted list, the police officer said, “That’s usually murder, rape, syndicated estafa, cases like that. ‘Yun po ‘yung mga pumapasok sa ‘Most Wanted’ natin, and violation of RA 9165 which is illegal drugs.”
She added that they have a weekly accomplishment report and last week, they had 92 arrests for the Most Wanted Persons in the South Police District.
Previously, it was reported that Neri Miranda’s camp filed a motion to quash the complaint against her.
