Kiko Pangilinan defended Neri Miranda
Actress-entrepreneur Neri Miranda elicited support from former Senator Kiko Pangilinan and this received a reaction from Parokya Ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda.
It was confirmed that Neri was arrested by the Pasay City Police due to estafa complaint filed against her and allegedly, she violated the Securities Regulation Code. A warden in Pasay City Jail confirmed that a certain “Nerizza Miranda” was detained at their facility.
Following this confirmation from the authority, Neri’s husband Chito Miranda released a statement on social media.
The band vocalist stressed that his wife is innocent of all the accusations against her. He said that Neri Miranda is just a product endorser of the company being accused. Chito also pointed out that his wife’s arrest was not according to the process.
He stressed that there was no need for that abrupt arrest because his wife was not hiding and authorities could easily locate them in their residence.
The couple received support from the online community. Several celebrities also showed sympathy for Neri. One of the prominent people who expressed support for Neri and Chito was Kiko Pangilinan.
In his post, the former Senator, who is also a lawyer, stressed that a product endorser has no connection to the company’s ownership and management that is involved in illegal activities.
Kiko also shared that he is a witness to how good a person Neri is. The former Senator added that Neri is also a victim of the company owner who stole the investors’ money.
He also said that it was wrong that the couple did not receive any notice regarding the case and the legality of the warrant of arrest is questionable.
“Nawa’y ma dismiss na ang kasong ito outright o di kaya maibalik sa piskalaya for preliminary investigation at in the meantime ay maquash o ma set aside yung arrest warrant,” the lawyer-politician said.
Chito Miranda expressed gratitude to Kiko Pangilinan for showing support for Neri Miranda. The band vocalist also said that he hopes his wife would be released soon because she did not receive any notice and that she is ready to face the court if it is needed. “Pero paano nya idedefend sarili nya eh warrant na agad binigay sa kanya na walang bail,” Chito said.
