Heart Evangelista Acknowledges Privilege: ‘Dinidisiplina rin kami’
HEART EVANGELISTA – Actress Heart Evangelista acknowledges her privileged background, emphasizing they were also raised with discipline.
Although Heart Evangelista admits coming from a well-off family, she clarified that they were raised to work hard for the things they wanted to achieve. “Sobrang thankful ako dahil ‘yung tatay ko, magaling din siyang magdisiplina,” she said.
Before venturing into showbiz, Heart’s family was already known in the food industry. They own the iconic Filipino restaurant chain, Barrio Fiesta.
The Global Icon grew up privileged, something she does not deny. Her family lived in the United States before returning to the Philippines during her late teenage years, where she started her career in show business.
Today, Heart is one of the most popular celebrities in the Philippines and has been dubbed a Style Icon due to her influence in the fashion world.
Everything Heart has achieved is the fruit of her 27 years of hard work in the entertainment industry, including her Paris apartment, which she showcased in her GMA reality series, Heart World.
While acknowledging her privileged background, Heart emphasized the importance of discipline instilled by her parents.
In one episode of Heart World, she shared: “Don’t get me wrong, ina-acknowledge ko talaga ‘yung idea na pinanganak akong privileged pero, siyempre, dinisiplina rin kami. Spoiled kami in a sense na lahat binibigay sa ‘min pero talagang sobrang thankful ako dahil ‘yung tatay ko, magaling din siyang magdisiplina.”
Heart also learned the value of humility, recognizing the blood, sweat, and tears it took before making a name for herself in the entertainment and fashion scenes.
Heart admitted that she once struggled with “impostor syndrome,” where she doubted her abilities and worth.
“In fact, dumating na nga ako sa point na meron na akong impostor’s syndrome, ‘yung feeling mo ‘di ka deserving na makuha ‘to but, as time goes by, I give a tap at the back na sinasabi ko sa ‘yo na you deserve it. ‘Di mo lang ‘to pinaghirapan, halos makipaglaban ka para rito,” she added.
