With a career that has spanned over five decades, Aunor’s contributions to Filipino culture are monumental, from her beginnings as a singer to her award-winning film career.
She first captured the nation’s heart in the late 1960s after winning the national singing competition “Tawag ng Tanghalan” in 1967. Following her victory, she successfully transitioned to film, leaving an indelible mark with iconic performances in movies like “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos” (1976), “Himala” (1982), and “Thy Womb” (2012). Recently, National Artist Nora Aunor connected with her fans in a special visit to the shop of popular social media personality Boss Toyo, whose real name is Jayson Luzadas. Bringing with her the dress she wore during her breakthrough “Tawag ng Tanghalan” performance, Aunor shared fond memories of her humble beginnings and early triumphs.
She clarified, however, that she has no plans to sell this priceless piece of her history. Instead, her main reason for visiting was to seek Luzadas’ help in providing assistance to the communities affected by Typhoon Kristine in the Bicol region, Aunor’s home.

Moved by Aunor’s gesture and her appeal, Luzadas and his social media peers shared their plans to extend help to those impacted by the typhoon. Admiring the historical significance of Aunor’s dress, Luzadas valued it at an impressive P5 million, expressing his interest in displaying it in his upcoming museum.
At the end of the visit, Aunor revealed that Luzadas had pledged a generous donation of P250,000 for the victims of Typhoon Kristine. This heartfelt interaction reflects Aunor’s enduring connection with her roots and her ongoing dedication to using her influence for the benefit of her fellow Filipinos. Her visit was a testament to her humble spirit and commitment to giving back to the community that first embraced her.
