Rufa Mae Quinto is happy that the new generation can still relate to her
Comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto shared her thoughts on having Gen Z fans even though she is now a seasoned celebrity.
Rufa Mae rose to fame during the 90s. She was part of That’s Entertainment. She was given supporting roles in movies and played sultry characters. In 1997, she got her first starring role in the movie Gloria, Gloria Labandera.
For many years, Rufa Mae was also part of the longest-running gag show Bubble Gang. In 2001, she had her big break through the blockbuster movie Booba, and this has become her moniker.
The actress took a break from showbiz in 2020 when she and her family moved to the US. Rufa Mae Quinto returned to showbiz ins 2022 and signed a contract with Sparkle GMA Artist Center.
During a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, she expressed gratitude that she is still being recognized by Gen Z fans and the younger generation of artists.
“Thank you so much, I love you guys,” she expressed. “Siguro nakaka-feel sila ng mommy factor; mommy-tita. Mommy na, tita pa – wag lang lola ha. Tsaka ang dali-dali lang naman ng joke ko ‘di ba? ‘Go, go, go’, ‘No, no, no’, ‘Todo na ‘to’ — wala namang hirap maintindihan,” Rufa Mae said.
Then, the seasoned comedienne shared how her popular “Go, go, go!” expression started. She said that this has a lot of meaning and so she would often say this. “Kasi parang wala ka nang magawa sa buhay ‘di ba? Ano pa bang masasabi mo? Magagawa mo? E ‘di ‘Go, Go, Go’ na lang,” she explained.
However, Rufa Mae said that now, people would also learn the “No, no, no” because in the past it was always “Go, go, go.”
Meanwhile, avid viewers of Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime are loving Rufa Mae Quinto’s guest appearances in its segment Kalokalike. Previously, she joked about becoming a regular in the show.
