Here’s Why Boy Abunda Doesn’t Want To Enter Politics
BOY ABUNDA – “King of Talk” Boy Abunda revealed why he doesn’t want to enter politics.
Boy Abunda, a renowned Filipino TV host and talent manager, has long been recognized as the “King of Talk” in the entertainment industry. With decades of experience in showbiz, his captivating presence on television has made him a household name.
Despite his influence and deep connection to the public, Abunda has consistently turned down offers to run for political office.
In an interview with The Philippine Star, Boy Abunda explained why politics never appealed to him, despite having the opportunity to pursue a political career. He revealed that he has received numerous offers to run for elective positions but has always chosen to decline.
“Dati pa,” he shared, emphasizing that he is the only member of his family who has never been involved in politics. His sister currently serves as a congresswoman and was previously a mayor and vice mayor, while his late mother, Lesing, and father were also public servants.
Abunda went on to explain his decision in more detail, stating, “The word is wala sa bituka. No fire in the belly.” He emphasized that his lack of passion for politics is the main reason he has refrained from joining the political scene, despite the family tradition. According to him, turning down these offers was easy, especially when his mother was still alive.
While he does run a political consulting firm, Boy Abunda clarified that his involvement in politics is limited to an advisory role.
For Abunda, showbiz remains his passion and his home, a place where he feels he can truly make a difference. His decision to stay away from politics is rooted in his love for the industry and his recognition that his heart belongs on screen, not in public office.
