John Amores Surrenders To Police After Shooting Incident

John Amores faces attempted murder complaint

PBA player John Amores, playing for the NorthPort Batang Pier, surrendered to the police after the shooting incident he was involved in.

The incident happened in Lumban, Laguna, and was triggered by a bad call in a basketball game. Reports said that Amores and a player from another team challenged each other to a fistfight. This reached the next barangay.

CCTV footage showed that Amores and his 20-year-old brother were riding on a motorcycle and they were chasing the victim. Along the highway, the motorcycle stopped and Amores started shooting the victim.

The basketball player ran and his brother driving the motorcycle also hurriedly left after gunshots were heard. Authorities immediately conducted a hot pursuit to arrest John Amores and his brother.

However, based on the report from ABS-CBN News, early Thursday morning, the PBA player and his brother voluntarily surrendered to the police. The Amores siblings did not give any statement regarding the shooting incident.

On September 26, Amores and his brother are set to face the inquest proceedings as they are facing an attempted murder complaint. They asked the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Lumban that they would not grant any interview from the media.

This was not the first time that John Amores became controversial and became a trending topic on social media. Two years ago, the basketball player ran amok and punched four St. Benilde Blazers players during the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) game.

Because of that, he was indefinitely banned by the NCAA and was expelled from the Jose Rizal University (JRU) basketball team.

Amores joined the PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft in 2023 and became Batang Pier’s 51st overall pick. The management of the PBA team is already aware of the shooting incident but it opted not to release a statement about this.
