Jeffrey Hidalgo was asked about the recent showbiz controversy
Singer-actor Jeffrey Hidalgo hopes that musical director Danny Tan will speak about the accusation against him.
Danny is currently facing allegations that he abused the singer-actor Gerald Anderson and former SugarPop member Renzo Almario. Gerald took the courage to speak about the alleged abuse that he received from the musical director when he was just 15 years old after Sparkle artist Sandro Muhlach started his legal battle against GMA independent contractors Jojo Nones and Richard Gutierrez.
Gerald’s courage to speak also prompted another alleged victim of Danny to speak up. Renzo claimed that he received abuse from the musical director when he was just 12 years old.
In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Jeffery Hidalgo, who has been part of the music industry in the Philippines for many years already, was asked about this issue.
Jeffrey admitted that he was shocked when the allegations against Danny surfaced. The singer-actor said that from what he knows, the musical director is a kind person.
“As a person naman, when I get to interact with him, mabait pero I guess may other side but siyempre, we have to also try to give him the benefit of the doubt and hear his side of the story at the same time,” Jeffrey shared.
However, he said that it was unfortunate that this happened. Jeffrey believes that it is a good thing to talk about this issue because it would create the initiative of being cautious for other artists.
The singer-actor, who started young in the industry as well, said that thankfully, this kind of incident did not happen to him. Jeffrey admitted that there were those who would send messages to him but it never got to the point that unnecessary things happened.
He is also thankful that somehow his background helped him to be away from this kind of situation. “Ang mentor namin, Ryan Cayabyab.I guess I am thankful for that, hindi ako na-subject sa gaanong klase, basta hindi ako na-victim,” he said.
When asked about the fight that Gerald and Renzo started, Jeffrey said that he hoped they would get justice. Jeffrey Hidalgo also said that it is better to deal with this in a civil manner and avoid things blowing up.
