Janine Gutierrez attended the Venice Film Festival for the first time
Kapamilya actress Janine Gutierrez excitedly revealed the magical experience she had in Italy as her movie Phantosmia was included in the Venice Film Festival.
Award-winning filmmaker Lav Diaz directed this four-hour movie. Janine, the daughter of Lotlot de Leon and Monching Gutierrez, once again showcased her acting prowess through this project. It is indeed a big honor for her to have her movie screened at the prestigious international film festival.
Based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Janine shared the mesmerizing experience she had in Venice.
The actress said that it was her first time visiting Venice and she felt like she was in Disneyland. From the airport, a welcome ceremony was held for the guests and everything was well taken care of.
Then, they rode on the water taxi. “So yung water taxi pa lang, kinikilig na ako roon kasi nakikita ko lang sila sa picture. Never pa talaga sa Venice,” she said.
Janine Gutierrez also shared that she was with two other delegates at that time. One is a director from Ukraine while the other one was a PR expert from France. The actress said that she is the same age as these two delegates.
When they entered the canal, she felt like this is what Disneyland was imitating onscreen. “Tapos tumatawa-tawa akong mag-isa. Tapos yung mga kasama ko natatawa na sa akin. Sobrang magical talaga ang Venice,” the Kapamilya star shared.
The actress added that until now, she feels the “kilig” when she reads comments asking why she did not join beauty pageants. She stressed that it is really her dream to be in a prestigious film festival.
Janine also said that she feels food that people from other parts of the world are watching Pinoy movies. She added that working with Lav Diaz is a dream come true.
The actress shared that she watched Lav’s film and that he is really well-anticipated internationally. It was a good feeling also for the actress that everyone stood and clapped after the movie screening.
“30 minutes after the movie, may babae na nag lapag ng note. Nakatupi yun at nilagay niya sa harap ni Direk Lav. Nakalagay sa note, ‘This is an absolute masterpiece,” Janine Gutierrez shared.
