Isko Moreno Meets Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada
ISKO MORENO – Former Manila mayor Isko Moreno got the chance to meet Canada’s Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau at the Taste of Manila event in Toronto.
Justin Trudeau is a Canadian politician who has been serving as the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada since November 2015. He is the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada and the son of Pierre Trudeau, the 15th Prime Minister of Canada.
Growing up in a political environment, Trudeau spent much of his childhood at 24 Sussex Drive, the official residence of the Prime Minister. He attended McGill University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Literature, and later the University of British Columbia, where he obtained a Bachelor of Education.
His government has focused on issues such as climate change, gender equality, and indigenous rights. Among his notable achievements and policies are the legalization of recreational cannabis in Canada in 2018, a commitment to addressing climate change, including the introduction of a carbon tax, and the introduction of a gender-balanced cabinet, a first in Canadian history.
He also played a significant role in handling the COVID-19 pandemic, including implementing economic relief packages for Canadians. Trudeau has been re-elected twice, in 2019 and 2021, though his government has faced criticism over various issues, including ethics scandals and the handling of indigenous affairs. Despite these challenges, he remains a prominent figure in Canadian and international politics.
Isko Moreno is currently in Canada as part of the Sparkle World Tour, aiming to bring joy to Global Pinoys abroad. His trip became even more special when he had the opportunity to meet Justin Trudeau at the Taste of Manila event in Toronto.
Sparkle GMA Artist Center shared photos on Instagram of the moment Isko and Trudeau met at the event, including a picture of the two smiling together. GMA Pinoy TV also posted a video on Instagram showing Trudeau’s arrival at the venue and his introduction to Isko.
In the video, the two are seen shaking hands and exchanging greetings. Trudeau attended the annual Taste of Manila event, which celebrates the Filipino community in Canada and was held this year at Wilson Ave. and Bathurst St. in Toronto. During the event, Isko, along with Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards and Boobay, performed for the crowd.
