Young Boy From Cebu Uses Remarkable Talent To Find Dad
CEBU – A young boy from Cebu used his remarkable talent in Math to find his father.
On Bantayan Island in Cebu, away from the bustling tourist area of Santa Fe, lies the town of Madridejos, known for its stunning coastlines and vibrant fishing community. At the heart of this town is a young boy who recently became an online sensation due to his extraordinary math skills.
The boy is Lee Axel Avila, a nine-year-old who astonished netizens with his ability to calculate the square roots of huge numbers.
It was during a casual encounter that a Bantayanon native, in town for a short vacation, spotted Lee. Impressed by the boy’s talent, he decided to share it online, leading to Lee’s viral fame.
Lenard Bryan Lañohan, a resident of Santa Fe, Bantayan Island, visited Madridejos on Sunday, August 15, to accompany friends exploring a local tourist spot.
While watching the sunset, Lee approached Lañohan’s group and asked if they could buy him a cup of milk tea. In return, Lañohan challenged him to solve square root problems.

The kid accepted the challenge, and Lañohan recorded the encounter on a live Facebook video. Lee started with two- to three-digit numbers before moving on to square roots of four-digit numbers.
To their amazement, Lee answered most of the problems correctly, even providing the first two decimal places in some cases.
Feeling comfortable with the group, Lee showcased more of his talents, singing and dancing to BINI’s hit song “Salamin,” much to the delight of Lañohan’s friends. In the end, Lee received his reward.
In an interview with CDN Digital, Lañohan mentioned that Lee often approaches tourists in the town center, offering to show his math skills in exchange for a small reward.
Despite his cheerful demeanor and enthusiasm for sharing his skills, Lee has a deeper dream he hopes to achieve through his remarkable math abilities. A Grade 4 student at Madridejos Central Elementary School, Lee practices solving square root equations to prepare for high school.
He lives with his mother and brother in Madridejos, Cebu. Sadly, his parents separated shortly after his birth, and he has never met his father, who, according to the latest information, is living in Manila.
Lee has made it his mission to find his father. To do so, he uses his skills to entertain tourists, hoping to save enough money to buy a phone and finally contact his father.
Since Lañohan posted a video on Facebook, it has garnered 40.7K reactions and 3K shares from social media users impressed by Lee’s talent.
Lañohan said that many people have expressed interest in helping Lee by donating money to support his search for his father.
“I’ve been receiving help from a few people so far, and once everything is gathered, I’ll make sure it reaches him,” Lañohan said, explaining that Lee’s mother has no access to social media, so he is coordinating the donations from concerned netizens.
For those who wish to help Lee, Lañohan’s contact information is available through his Facebook account to ensure that donations reach Lee’s family.
With the support of people like Lañohan, Lee’s impressive talent might soon help him reunite with his father.
