Jennylyn Mercado remains a subject of rumored network transfer
The manager of actress-singer Jennylyn Mercado denied the speculation that she joined a contract with ABS-CBN.
Rumors surfaced that Jennylyn will transfer to the Kapamilya network started circulating a couple of months ago. This came after she did a project with Star Music, the music label of ABS-CBN.
The rumored network transfer was hyped up by the fact that Jennylyn was not seen in the most recent GMA station ID. However, it was explained by her camp that she had a prior engagement when the shoot happened.
Just recently, a rumor circulated on X, formerly Twitter. @KafosoMo shared a tweet saying, “Hoy Ignacia pumirma va???” and this garnered speculations that it was Jennylyn Mercado.
Ignacia is the slang term that fans use to refer to ABS-CBN. That tweet from a page was reposted by @suzydoktuliro and this included a photo of Jennylyn standing in front of a background with ABS-CBN logos.
In the caption of the post, this was written: “BREAKING NEWS: Jennylyn Mercado isa nang ganap na Kapamilya matapos pumirma ng exclusive contract sa ABS-CBN ngayong araw ng Miyerkules. Abangan ang mga susunod na detalye sa gaganaping press conference bilang pag welcome sa bagong Kapamilya actress.”
However, based on the article in Pang-Masa, Jennylyn’s manager Becky Aguila stressed that this is “fake news.” She also clarified that the photo of the alleged contract signing with ABS-CBN was an edited photo taken from Jennylyn’s previous contract signing with GMA.
Jennylyn Mercado’s manager also said that they don’t know why people are making up stories about the actress-singer.
Previously, Jennylyn shared that she hasn’t renewed her contract yet with her home network but negotiations are happening. She also stressed that she has not received any offers from other networks.
