Dolly de Leon shared that she was called by different names in the past. “Coming from growing up in that world, I mean, I’ve been called boba, torta, stupida, gaga, tanga, pangit when I was growing up,” the seasoned actress said.

Both she and Lea Salonga admitted that this is part of their training as actresses. The Broadway Diva said that she did not mind those yelling and name-calling because she said that it was a sort of a ‘hampas lupa’ approach.

Lea recalled that she had this kind of experience with a director at Repertory Philippines. However, after the rehearsals, Lea said that the director would be nicer and kinder. She also said that her experience was quite different because she started so young but she would hear those yelling.

I’ve heard that yelling so much, but maybe some calluses must have built up at some point because when I got to working in New York like, oh my God, they’re not yelling at me. This is nice!” she said.

On the other hand, Lea Salonga said that one can still get scolded on Broadway. She pointed out that if one can’t deliver what the director needs and what the role requires he or she can still hear yelling. The Broadway Diva also believes that this is out of passion to try to get the best of the actor or actress.
