Donald Trump Plays Celine Dion’s ‘Titanic’ Song at Rally
DONALD TRUMP – Celine Dion’s management and her record label issued a statement stating that the use of the song was “in no way authorised”.
Celine Dion criticized Donald Trump on Saturday for using the song she wrote and sang for the movie “Titanic” at an election rally. The Republican presidential candidate faced ridicule on social media after playing the 1997 hit “My Heart Will Go On” during a rally in Montana, where a video of Dion singing the song was shown on a large screen.
Dion’s management and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada, issued a statement on X, clarifying that the use of the song and video was “in no way” authorized. “Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use… And really, THAT song?” the statement added.
Social media users have drawn comparisons between Trump’s campaign and the doomed ship featured in James Cameron’s film. Trump has been on the defensive since Kamala Harris replaced President Joe Biden in the US election race for the White House.
Trump had appeared poised to reclaim the presidency before Biden’s withdrawal from the race on July 21, but Harris has gained significant ground since taking Biden’s place and selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
“My Heart Will Go On,” released on Dion’s album “Let’s Talk About Love” and the “Titanic” soundtrack, became one of the most successful songs of all time, selling 18 million copies and earning Dion an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and multiple Grammys.
At 56, Dion had to cancel several shows in 2023 and 2024 due to an autoimmune disorder that left her unable to tour. However, she thrilled fans last month by performing at the opening of the Olympics in Paris from the Eiffel Tower.
