Jessy Mendiola is having her showbiz comeback
Actress Jessy Mendiola recalled her humble beginnings in showbiz as she recently signed a new contract with ABS-CBN.
Jessy took a break from the entertainment industry and ventured into vlogging while focusing on her real-life roles as a wife to TV host Luis Manzano and mother to baby Rosie.
The actress recalled the time when she was just starting her acting career in the Philippine entertainment industry. She was part of the Star Magic Batch 15 in 2004.
During her recent contract renewal with ABS-CBN, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, Jessy Mendiola recalled that they did not have a glam team and they had to do everything on their own.
Going back to the Kapamilya network’s studio, the actress said that it was nostalgic as she remembered waiting in the hallway and doing rehearsals for their production number in different shows.
She said that unlike now celebrities have their own glam to help them, with their hair and make-up, as well as, their wardrobe, they had to do these by themselves years ago.
“Ngayon uso na ang mga glam team for makeup and hair. Dati kami-kami lang. Kanya-kanya lang. Thumbmark lang yan tapos okay ka na sis,” the actress shared. She explained that a thumbmark means that they will get a make-up color and put it on their eyelids as eyeshadows and the remaining will be placed on cheeks to add color.
Jessy said that because of this, their make-up back then, was monotonous. She also shared that during their time, it was “bring your own costume.” They have no stylists to help them with their wardrobe.
She said that she is somehow grateful that she was in the transition period when it came to this. “Kaya sinasabi ko na I’m one of the lucky ones na naabutan ko yung transition ng industry like unti-unti pumapasok na yung mga glam team, stylists,” Jessy Mendiola said.
