Carlos Yulo received support from many Filipinos but not from his mom
The mother of gymnast Carlos Yulo, Angelica Yulo, showed support for Japanese gymnast in 2024 Olympic Games and netizens said that this is “karma” for her after her son won a gold medal.
Carlos, also known as Caloy, has been establishing his name in the world of gymnastics by joining different international competitions. In 2023, he won silver in parallel bars and bronze in the vault, one gold in the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) Artistic Gymnastics World Cup second leg in Qatar.
This year, Carlos Yulo got his first Olympic gold medal. The gymnast got 15.000 in floor exercise finals of Paris Olympics. His achievement was celebrated by the whole country. Caloy became a trending topic on social media as many Filipinos are greeting him and congratulating his performance that brought honor to the Philippines.
With his achievement, President Bongbong Marcos congratulated him. Several companies in the country has offered rewards for him.
However, amid his achievement, Carlos did not received support from his mother. Netizens have noticed that Angelica Yulo reposted a news item talking about a Japanese gymnast. “Japan pa din talaga….Lakas,” she wrote in his post.
In the comment section, Caloy’s mother even reiterated her support for her other children but she did not mention anything about the Olympic gold medalist.
With this, many netizens pointed out that achievement that her other son had. For some netizens, this is “karma” because although she showed support for Japan, her son was hailed as the big winner.
A netizen also shared the reward that Carlos received for bringing pride to the country and another netizen pointed out that the Pinoy gymnast’s gold medal is a slap to his mother after she disowned him. Allegedly an issue occurred between Carlos and her mother after he found out that his family was wasting the money he earned for being an athlete.
It is so sad that the relationship of Carlos Yulo with his mom is strained. All I can say to the mom is : gayahin mo na lang si mommy Dionesia Pacquiao, who never made pakialam sa affairs ni Manny. All she did was pray pray pray for his son. Kaya Manny loved her more.
