Cat Arambulo released this statement after she went viral on social media
Social media personality Cat Arambulo broke her silence on her insensitive remark about flood brought by typhoon Carina.
Cat became a trending topic online, specifically on X, formerly Twitter, because of her now-deleted video showing that she and her family were riding in a car amidst the flood. The social media personality was showing to her kids the flood and based on what she said in the video, it was first time for her daughter to see that kind of scenario.
Her daughter asked if they could ride a floatie on the flood water. Cat said that it seemed safe because it was just water and suggested that they could wakeboard.
This did not sit well with many netizens. Her name became one of the top trending topic on the micro-blogging social media platform on July 25. She was criticized for apparently being insensitive to what many Filipinos have suffered because of typhoon.
Actress-director Bela Padilla appeared to have criticized Cat Arambulo for her viral “out of touch” remark about the flood.
In a recent post that Cat shared on her Instagram page, she spoke about her viral video. The social media personality apologized and admitted that what she said in the video with her kids was insensitive.
“I deeply apologize for my insensitivity and my actions, especially during a time of crises,” she wrote. Cat also said that she is hearing what the public has commented on her video. She stressed that she would use this learning experience to benefit herself and teach her kids to be more socially aware and active.
The social media personality also shared that she is now focusing on providing relief to different communities that were affected by the recent typhoon.
“My prayers go out to everyone affected,” she wrote. In the caption of her post, she used the folded hands emoji which depicts praying and being hopeful, and a white heart emoji.
