Heart Evangelista & SSFI Fellows Give Out Relief Goods
HEART EVANGELISTA – The wife of Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero led the distribution of the relief goods for Typhoon Carina victims in Marikina.
Typhoon Carina severely hit several areas in the Philippines. The heavy rains and strong winds left several areas under a State of Calamity. The storm intensified the southwest monsoon or the habagat.
Typhoon Carina damaged homes and livelihoods of thousands of families. Currently, the fatality rate due to the natural calamity rose to 34. Thousands of families were displaced from their homes due to the typhoon and are currently staying in evacuation centers.
Recently, the Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. or the SSFI gave out relief goods for the victims of Typhoon Carina in Marikina. The distribution of the relief goods was led by SSFI president Heart Evangelista.
Heart took the post as SSFI president after her husband, Chiz Escudero, sat as the Senate President. On her new role in the Senate, Heart Evangelista previously said that it has no salary and she wants to make a change and she’s really willing to work.
Recently, the Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. visited the Sto. Niño Elementary School in Marikina to give out relief goods to over 2000 evacuees due to Typhoon Carina. In her social media post, Heart expressed that she’s overwhelmed by the outpouring generosity and solidarity with the partners, donors, and volunteers who worked together.
Heart visited the evacuees currently housed at Sto. Niño Elementary School in Marikina City with Senator Koko Pimentel’s wife, Kat; Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s wife, Nancy; and Sen. Mark Villar’s wife, Atty. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar.
According to Heart Evangelista, the other members of the Senate Spouses Foundation, Inc. who are currently in the middle of their individual relief operations have also sent water, food, and rice to add to the relief packs set to be given for the typhoon victims.
In her post, Kat expressed her gratitude to Kat Pimentel “for being at the forefront of this effort” as well as to everyone who made the relief distribution possible. She stressed that that the results are a product of a team not a single person.
