Tropical Storm Ondoy was remembered by netizens and because of this, it became one of the trending topics on the micro-blogging social media platform.

The storm, with the international name Ketsana, hit the country in late September 2009. Based on the article in Relief Web, three typhoons hit the country before the stronger storm came. A month’s rain flooded Manila and Central Luzon in just 12 hours.

The water rose fast as well. Those who were living in low areas were caught off-guard. At that time, 8 provinces were declared to be in a state of calamity. It was reported that hundreds of people died at that time and many people were missing.

With that, it is hard for many people to forget that devastating time that caused a lot of damage. Due to the flooding caused by typhoon Carina, netizens recalled typhoon Ondoy.

Some netizens said that what they experienced 14 years ago is happening now with typhoon Carina while some said that they learned their lessons from the past so, they are more prepared now.

For some netizens, this is worse than what they experienced during Ondoy. Some also recalled the trauma they had from that strong typhoon years ago. Here are some posts shared by netizens on X mentioning the tropical storm back in 2009.
