Rabiya Mateo became a victim of investment scam
Kapuso actress Rabiya Mateo lost her hard-earned money because of an investment scam and here’s the lesson she wants to share to the public.
Rabiya has worked hard for where she is now. From a beauty queen aspirant from Iloilo, she became the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 and represented the country in the international pageant.
After her pageant stint, she was given a chance to pursue a career in showbiz and signed a contract with Sparkle GMA Artist Center. From this, she was given different acting and hosting stint. Previously, she enthused about her “nakakaluwag-luwag’ status” which simply means that she can provide for her family.
Aside from her showbiz engagements, Rabiya Mateo wanted to explore the world of business and so she was enticed to invest. In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, this experience was a nightmare for the actress.
She said that she was traumatized by the investment scam. What was more hurtful was that she knew the people who did this and they know the struggles she went through just to earn money from the projects that she did.
“But then, that’s life. It taught me to be more careful na kapag too good to be true, kapag medyo questionable yung opportunities tapos mabilis, madali ang kita], learn to say no,” Rabiya said.
She also said that it was a bad experience because there was no assurance. The actress shared that the interest was so high after she will provide the money. Although she is aware of the scamming that happens in businesses, she did not mind that. She did not imagine herself being a victim of this.
Rabiya also said that scammers don’t choose people, they will victimize anyone from different walks of life and with different professions. The actress said that it was a heartbreaking phase in her life but it was also great learning experience. She also chose not to go after her friends who scammed her.
Behind the negative that happened to her, Rabiya Mateo is happy that a new door has opened for her. She is now the CEO of LVNA Jewelry by Drake Dustin Cavite Branch.
