Sen. Win Gatchalian Says Alice Guo Possibly Left Philippines Using Chinese Passport
ALICE GUO – Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian said controversial mayor Alice Guo possibly left the country using Chinese passport.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian sought police help following death threats he received, which he suspects are connected to his involvement in the Senate probe on illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs).
Gatchalian informed the Pasay City Police Station about these threats in a letter to Police Major Benjamin Mandane, the substation commander.
There is a chance that suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo has departed the country using her Chinese passport, as suggested by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Wednesday. Mayor Guo is being investigated by the Senate Committee on Women’s Affairs for her suspected links to illegal POGOs. The Senate has issued orders for her arrest due to her frequent non-attendance at hearings.
“Sa mga information namin sa Bureau of Immigration ay nandito pa sya dahil cheneck namin kung si Guo Hua Ping ay umalis na ng Pilipinas, wala naman silang nakitang ganun na record so far,” the senator said over Radyo 630.
“So kung dadaan sya sa ating mga airport, at dadaan sya sa seaport, made-detect sya. Pero alam naman natin na meron pang ibang paraan para makatakas,” he said.
According to the report, the National Bureau of Investigation has verified that Guo and the Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping are identical individuals. Last month, Gatchalian asserted that Guo utilized both Chinese and Philippine passports between 2008 and 2011.
Currently, the senator suspects that the suspended mayor continues to use her Chinese passport. However, Guo’s lawyer, Stephen David, has consistently stated that she remains in the Philippines.
