Veteran actress Gloria Diaz, who is also the Miss Universe 1969, has this reaction to being called the “Enrile of Binibining Pilipinas.”
Gloria is not just a showbiz icon because she is also a legend in the world of pageantry for being the first Pinay Miss Universe. Many beauty queen aspirants and the younger generations of beauty queens made her their inspiration.
Until now, Gloria is still actively supporting the pageant community. She is one of the judges in the recently concluded Binibining Pilipinas 2024 coronation night.
During the 60th edition of the prestigious national beauty pageant, the past title holders were highlighted. Gloria Diaz went viral after the pageant because of her question to Bb. Pilipinas 2024 candidate number 13 from Bulacan.
The veteran showbiz personality had to reiterate her question as she did get the response she expected. This caught the attention of many pageant fans and they admired how “savage” Gloria was, as she always is.
After the pageant, Gloria shared a reel on Instagram showcasing the highlight during the pageant event. She showed a memorabilia of her winning moment and her reign in 1969. She also posed for photos with her fellow former queens.
In the caption of her post, Gloria shared that her beautiful dress for the coronation night was created by “young designer RHON BALAGTAS.” After 54 years, she is still active in the pageant scene. She also mentioned in her post the tag that people gave her.
She is being called the “Enrile of Bb. Pilipinas.” Gloria was referring to prominent political figure Juan Ponce Enrile who turned 100 years old this year.
For the veteran actress, it was a happy moment that she was able to spend time with her fellow Bb. Pilipinas queens. She feels lucky that she still has this chance after more than five decades and is “still very active fully dressed in long gowns...”
In the comment section of her post, Gloria Diaz received praise from netizens. Some said that she is their favorite Miss Universe and indeed an inspiration to many while some shared their experience meeting her in person.
