Kim Chiu talked about her showbiz journey
Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu revealed what she bought with her first paycheck in show business.
Kim started her career in the entertainment industry at a young age through the Kapamilya reality show Pinoy Big Brother. This opened doors for her in showbiz. She is now one of the most in-demand actresses of her generation.
Kim recently guested on Melai Cantiveros’s new show Kuan On One, based on the article in PUSH. She talked about her humble beginnings in showbiz and showed glimpses of her life before entering the industry.
When asked what she bought with her first paycheck, Kim Chiu said, “Bumili ako ng maraming pagkain, Miga.”
Kim mentioned that during their PBB days, their foods were limited because they had to complete a certain task in order to have their needed supplies. “Tapos nung una kahit bumili lang tayo ng hamburger ang hirap na Miga,” she said.
Melai agreed with Kim. The comedienne said that back in the province, it was already a privilege to buy a hamburger.
Kim shared that she ordered a lot of food with her first paycheck. “Marami, sinabay-sabay ko ang spaghetti, french fries, chicken, hamburger, sinabay ko lahat. Ang ending tumaba ako. Tumaba ng bongga si girl kasi binili niya kasi lahat ng pagkain,” the It’s Showtime host enthused.
Aside from that, Kim also bought two cellular phones. She shared that she thought that she would be working in showbiz for a year. The actress said that she was briefed after PBB to just enjoy her showbiz journey that might last for just a year.
“I-enjoy lang daw [for] one year. Sabi ko ah sige hindi na muna ako uuwi [ng Cebu]. Next year na lang ako mag-aaral. Binigyan ako ng mga teleserye ganyan-ganyan hala eh natuwa [ako],” she shared.
Then, she fell in love with showbiz and to cut a long story short, she is now in her 18th year in the industry. Kim Chiu said that she enjoyed what she was doing and this did not make her feel that it was work.
When asked what made her realize that she wanted to have a long-term career in showbiz, the actress said that it was when she was able to build a house for her family because before, they did not have their own house.
