Jessy Mendiola is set to have her showbiz comeback this year
Actress Jessy Mendiola signed a new contract with ABS-CBN and she expressed that she wants to try “gray roles” for her future projects.
Jessy took a break from show business for five years to focus on doing her roles as a wife to her husband actor-host Luis Manzano and as a mother to their daughter Rosie. Just recently, Jessy officially returned to showbiz after signing a contract with Kapamilya network’s Star Magic, together with Luis.
In an interview after the contract signing, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, Jessy said that she was overwhelmed by the support she received and she did not expect this.
“I feel very special. Hindi ko in-expect na ganun karami ‘yung nagmamahal sa akin. I wasn’t expecting na babalik ako (sa showbiz),” Jessy Mendiola said, adding that she was very thankful to be back home.
She also said that her home network ABS-CBN always had her back. In the same interview, Jessy also expressed what she wants to do for her future projects.
“‘Yung gusto ko pa na ma-try na ibang roles kasi before I’ve been doing sensual roles and drama. Magfo-focus ako na ma-hone ‘yung acting ko and mag-try ng gray roles, kontrabida, or mother roles,” the actress said.
Jessy also aspires to have a project with her husband, as well as, with her mother-in-law Star for all Seasons Vilma Santos. Aside from them, the actress also wants to share the same screen with Piolo Pascual and Joshua Garcia.
Jessy Mendiola received her husband’s full support for her showbiz comeback. Luis Manzano said that his wife still has her passion and this would help her as an individual if she is doing something that she really loves.
“If it completes who she is, makatutulong rin ito sa pagiging maybahay niya sa akin at sa pagiging mom kay Peanut. Masaya siya eh. Nagagawa niya kung ano ang nasa puso niya,” the actor-host said about his wife.
Jessy has been in the industry for 17 years already and she starred in different movies and teleseryes.
