Melai Cantiveros is now being tagged as New Generation Comedy Queen
Kapamilya comedienne-host Melai Cantiveros has this reaction to fans’ campaign for her to star in Tanging Ina remake.
Melai has come a long way from being the big winner of Pinoy Big Brother. She is now one of the prominent homegrown talents of the Kapamilya network. Over the years, she has already done a lot of acting projects, as well as, hosting stints.
Just recently, another blessing came to her. She now has her own talk show with a podcast style called Kuan On One. This talk show is mainly intended for Bisaya celebrities.
In a recent press conference for this new project, Melai Cantiveros expressed gratitude and happiness to have this new blessing in her career, based on the article in Abante. However, she said that there is still a lot she has to go through.
With her success as a comedienne, she is now being tagged as the New Generation Comedy Queen, and there are fans who campaign that she will star in the remake of Tanging Ina which featured Comedy Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas.
Melai is overwhelmed by this but she said that she does want to bypass the original star of the said comedy movie franchise. She also said that there are other comediennes who she thinks as her seniors.
“Kung i-offer sa akin, why not, sobrang happy. Pero siyempre hindi natin puwede i-bypass si Ms. Ai Ai delas Alas dahil siya talaga ang ating Queen of Comedy. Marami na talaga siyang napatunayan sa comedy. Ayan pa si Ate Pokie (Pokwang), sina Ms. Eugene Domingo,” she said.
If this will happen, she just hopes that no one will get hurt. “Kung i-kuan why not pero sana wala tayong ma-hurt. Gawa na lang tayo ng sarili natin,” Melai Contiveros said. She even joked that it could be “Kuan Ng Ina.”
Melai’s new show is set to premiere on July 2 on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel and iWantTFC.
