Marian Rivera received these positive words from the director of ‘Balota’
Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera plays the character of a teacher in the Cinemalaya film Balota and director Kip Oebanda has these revelations.
In a previous interview, Marian flexed that she refused to have a stunt double for the movie. That was the reason why she had some bruises. This movie also showed the deglamorized Marian. She said that she did not wear makeup during filming.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Inquirer, Marian said that in this movie she had a lot of firsts as an actress. She had to deliver lines that were far different from what she had in her previous projects.
Director Kip Oebanda shared that they had a ballot box that was actually used in 2007. “It was made of steel and weighed six kilos with the ballots inside. We had a rubber version made, but she didn’t want to use that,” he said about the prop that Marian Rivera used.
The ballot box was tied to Marian’s waist. During the running scenes, the ballot box keeps on hitting her. This was the reason why the actress had her bruises.
Direk Kip said that Marian really wanted to experience what her character went through. The director shared that during the scenes on the forest floor, the actress did not prefer the fake dirt, instead she put actual soil on herself.
“The one thing that really surprised me was her range. Here, she was absolutely pushed to her limits, not just physically but also emotionally,” he said.
The director also said that Marian really went to dark places with her character. Direk Kip that his method is more on the character and not the actor, so it was easy for Marian to let go.
The filmmaker stressed that if people will watch this movie, they will definitely see a different Marian Rivera’s range when it comes to acting.
