Lea Salonga Will Have Very Own Wax Figure
LEA SALONGA – Madame Tussauds Singapore announced that theater legend Lea Salonga will soon have her own wax figure in their museum.
Lea Salonga became a star after originating the role of Kim in the musical “Miss Saigon.” She was the first Filipino and Asian to win both a Tony Award and a Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress for this role.
In 2023, she returned to Broadway in the musical “Here Lies Love,” playing Aurora Aquino, the mother of former senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino. She also recently performed in “Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends” in the West End.
In addition to her impressive theater career, Lea Salonga was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work as the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney’s “Aladdin” and the title character in “Mulan.”
Beyond her contributions to Filipino cinema, the theater legend joined the cast of “Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” in 2021.
Lea Salonga will soon be immortalized with a wax figure at the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Singapore. The announcement was made on Madame Tussauds’ Instagram account.
“Shining, Shimmering, Splendid! The legendary Lea Salonga will have her very own wax figure in #MadameTussuadsSG! Are you as excited as we are?” the caption read.
The post included a video of Salonga meeting with a team and being measured for the figure.
“It’s an absolute honor and a privilege. It’s fantastic,” she said in the clip.
The “Miss Saigon” star then addressed her fans, saying, “Hi everybody. I’m super excited to be joining Madame Tussauds with my very own wax figure. Are you ready?”
