Alice Guo: Gatchalian Says Bamban Mayor’s DNA Test No Longer Feasible

Gatchalian Says DNA Test to Determine Alice Guo’s Nationality No Longer Feasible

ALICE GUO – Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian said the DNA test to determine Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s nationality is no longer feasible.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian announced on Sunday that the DNA test, which could have verified Alice Guo’s nationality, is now impossibe because Lin Wen Yi, the Chinese national presumed to be the mother of the controversial Bamban, Tarlac mayor, has left the country.

“[The DNA] is not possible for now, because according to the Bureau of Immigration, Lin Wen Yi and Jian Zhong Guo are no longer in the Philippines. They already flew to another country so we can’t find them here,” Gatchalian said during a radio interview.

“First of all, these two are Chinese nationals so they can really go back to China anytime and opt not to return here. If that happens, we no longer have a chance to prove that these two are Mayor Alice’s parents … for now Lin Wen Yi is no longer in the country so it would be difficult for us to demand a DNA test,” he explained.

Previously, the senator had proposed a DNA test to establish the relationship between Guo and Lin Wen Yi, amid questions about the Alice Guo’s citizenship. The mayor claims Filipino citizenship, asserting that her mother is Filipino.

Guo has consistently maintained that she is the biological daughter of Jian Zhong Guo, a Chinese citizen who later adopted the Filipino name Angelito Guo, and his former housekeeper, Amelia Leal, who allegedly abandoned her at birth in 1986.

“It will help us determine who Mayor Alice is and her nationality. If the DNA test proves that Lin is Guo’s mother, then the mayor is Chinese, as both her real parents are Chinese,” Gatchalian stated.

According to the report, he also mentioned that residents of Valenzuela could attest to Lin Wen Yi being referred to as the mayor’s mother when the Guo family resided in the city.
