Alice Guo: Sen. Win Gatchalian Challenges Bamban Mayor to DNA Test Amid Allegations

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian Challenges Mayor Alice Guo to DNA Test Amid Allegations

ALICE GUO – Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian challenges Mayor Alice Guo to DNA test amid allegations.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has challenged Bamban Mayor Alice Guo to take a DNA test in response to allegations that she lied about her Filipino househelp being her mother.

Based on a report from Philstar, Gatchalian issued this challenge following a Senate investigation into Guo’s alleged connections to illegal offshore gaming activities, which revealed troubling information about her family.

Sherwin Gatchalian stated that corporate records of Guo’s family business list her father Jian Zhong Guo, siblings Shiela and Seimen, and an individual named Lin Wen Yi as incorporators. Lin Wen Yi is purportedly her Chinese mother, known by the Filipino name “Winnie.”

“I call on the two to have a DNA test to find out if they are related or not. She has nothing to lose,” Gatchalian said during an interview with dzBB on Friday.

The senator mentioned having sources in Valenzuela, his family’s political stronghold, who claimed that the Guo family once had a warehouse there and that people recognized Lin Wen Yi or “Winnie” as the mother.

The Filipino name ‘Winnie’ is also not far from the name ‘Lin Wen Yi,’ and an English version of the Chinese name that is usually done in Chinese families,” Gatchalian noted.

Sherwin Gatchalian added that it is typical for family-owned businesses to list family members as incorporators. Gatchalian also pointed out that travel records show the Guo patriarch and Lin Wen Yi traveled together at least 170 times over six years, indicating a relationship beyond business.

Furthermore, Gatchalian noted a 13-year age gap between the two – Jian Zhong Guo was born in 1958, while Lin Wen Yi was born in 1971. This implies that Lin Wen Yi would have been only 15 years old when Alice Guo was born and 13 when Shiela was born.

However, Gatchalian questioned the accuracy of their birth dates due to inconsistencies in their records, including different marriage dates with the alleged Filipino househelp mother.

In response to Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III’s comment that the investigation had shifted from potential criminal issues to family drama, Gatchalian explained that the probe was expanded to explore possible money laundering activities within Guo’s businesses.

Gatchalian had previously suggested that the Guo family’s companies might be involved in money laundering, evidenced by their farm and embroidery business showing cash flow despite no reported income.

“We are not being sidetracked, because we need to see all the personalities involved. This is large-scale money laundering involving several people, led by an ‘enabler’ who opened the door for criminality to enter the country,” Gatchalian stated.

According to the report, the next Senate hearing will be an executive session due to ongoing investigations into Guo’s alleged role in illegal offshore gaming activities.
