On Friday, Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil endorsed the Firearms and Explosives Office’s suggestion to cancel the firearm ownership license of fugitive preacher Apollo Quiboloy, as confirmed by PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo.

According to the report, the decision was grounded on Section 4 (g) of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act (Republic Act No. 10591), which prohibits granting a firearms license to individuals with past convictions or current accusations in pending criminal cases carrying a penalty of more than two years.

Quiboloy faces charges of child abuse, s*xual assault, trafficking, exploitation, and discrimination in two separate court cases. Fajardo mentioned that Quiboloy, who remains at large, possesses 19 firearms, noting that one of them already had an expired license in March of this year.
