BGYO and BINI have been among the trending topics on X these past few days
P-pop groups BGYO and BINI, both under the management of ABS-CBN, released a statement on recent online attacks.
The two groups have been the hot topics of the “Twitter-verse” as accusations surfaced against them. The hashtag “Disband BGYO” caught the attention of the online community as members of the all-male P-pop group were accused of inappropriate behavior, such as cheating and more.
BINI has been dragged into the issue as apparently, fans, called Blooms, of the all-female P-pop group were attacking the other group and there was a counterattack as well from the fans of the all-male group, called ACEs.
Amid the issue, Star Magic, the talent management company of ABS-CBN, released a statement from the legal counsel of the two P-pop groups.
Atty. Joji Alonso, the groups’ legal counsel, stated that posts with harmful, negative, and false accusations are against cyberbullying and anti-libel laws.
The group’s representative also asked the public to be responsible in posting to avoid spreading hurtful content.
“It is everyone’s duty to create a safe online environment, rather than be the first to commit criminal acts,” Alonso stated. The lawyer also said that these past months, the two groups have been in a painful experience as they learn the value of personal accountability.
The members of the two groups are standing up against online bullies. They will also take legal action against bashers who spread malicious rumors.
The legal counsel of BGYO and BINI also stated that they already asked for help from government agencies and private service providers to gather evidence against perpetrators.
“Again, we remind the public that it is not only crucial to call out acts of bashing and cyberbullying, but to show kindness and accord everyone due respect, both online and in real life,” Atty. Alonso stressed.
