The sitcom of Michael V is rumored to be off-air soon
Seasoned comedian Michael V clarified the group hug photo of Pepito Manaloto cast members which garnered speculations that the Kapuso sitcom will bid goodbye.
It is rumored that the long-running show featuring Bitoy will end soon. Since 2010, the sitcom has become part of the weekly viewing habit of many Filipino households. Amid the rumored end, the Kapuso comedian shared a thank you post which fueled the speculations about the show.
He said that Pepito Manaloto is more than just a fictional family because they became a family behind the camera. Netizens expressed how the show became part of their lives.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Balita, Michael V clarified the group hug photo of the sitcom’s cast members. He denied that they will be airing their finale anytime soon.
“Diretsahang sagot, hindi. ‘Yong photo naman na ‘yon, ‘yong group hug na ‘yon…parang remembrance, appreciation. Natuwa lang kami na after all these years, pandemic, magkakasama pa rin kami,” the seasoned comedian said.
Bitoy’s co-star Manilyn Reynes, who plays his wife Elsa in the sitcom, said that they are so happy that they have been airing for more than a decade already. She expressed appreciation to everyone who supports them then and now.
“Naiiyak kami kasi hindi po namin maisip na hanggang ngayon, sa tinagal-tagal ng ‘Pepito,’ hanggang ngayon, 14 years na kami, talagang nandiyan sila [sa] simula’t simula. Nakakataba ng puso,” the actress said.
Meanwhile, aside from Pepito Manaloto that is airing every Saturday at 7 pm on GMA, Bitoy also has another long-running show, the gag show Bubble Gang. The first episode of the gag show was aired on October 20, 1995. It went through several revamps over the years and new cast members were added.
