Ryan Bang had to go through this difficult times when he was young
Kapamilya star Ryan Bang recalled his difficult childhood in South Korea when his family faced a financial crisis.
Ryan has come a long way since he started his showbiz career through the Kapamilya reality show Pinoy Big Brother. From that stint, he became part of different shows on ABS-CBN.
Currently, he is part of the Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime. Over the years, Ryan also became an endorser of different products. With his success in the entertainment industry, he was able to establish his own businesses.
Ryan Bang’s financial stability was so far from what he encountered back when he was young. In a recent interview, based on the article in PUSH, the Kapamilya star revealed that he was born into a well-off family.
His dad owned three billiard halls as he was also a billiard player. Ryan shared that her mom was not working because his father’s business provided them with a comfortable life.
However, when the 1997 Asian financial crisis, Ryan’s dad went through a tough time in his business. “Tapos 7 years old ako meron kami [sa] Korea International Monetary Fund [crisis], bumagsak so walang naglalaro ng billiard,” he shared.
Amid the financial crisis, his parents would often fight until they divorced. He was in Grade 4 at that time. Ryan chose to stay with his mother. From a big comfortable house, they transferred to a condo unit.
Eventually, they ended up living on the second floor of a condo in just a single room. His mother had different jobs just to sustain their finances. When his mother could not provide for him anymore, she sent him to the Philippines.
His mom’s friend took care of him. “‘Yung best friend niya, nung medyo may kaya pa ang mommy ko tinulungan pala ng mommy ko ‘yung kaibigan niya tapos ‘yung kaibigan niya may negosyo dito, yumaman dahil sa pera ng mommy ko so nag-favor ‘yung mommy ko, ‘Pwede [diyan] muna tumira ang anak ko?’ Kaibigan ng mommy ko may asawa pero walang anak so parang inampun nila ako,” Ryan Bang shared.
