Kim Chiu shared the loveteam culture’s effect on Pinoy celebrities

Kapamilya actress Kim Chiu said that the loveteam culture in the Philippine entertainment industry has evolved.

Kim rose to fame after winning the first Pinoy Big Brother teen edition. Inside the PBB house, she was already being paired with her fellow housemate back then, Gerald Anderson.

Eventually, after their stint in the reality show, they officially became a loveteam known as Kimerald. Together, they did series and movies. Then, they became a real-life couple as well.

In a recent interview on Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza’s YouTube channel, Kim Chiu shared her thoughts on the loveteam culture in Philippine showbiz. She said that loveteam has become a formula in Pinoy series and movies.

The actress pointed out that Pinoys really love to fall in love. However, she said that the loveteam culture is changing. Kim said that before, loveteam partners were only paired with each other but now, they can do other projects outside the loveteam and can be paired with other leading lady or leading man.

Maluwag na siya kasi natatanggap na natin na pwede silang mag-pair sa ibang tao. But [from my point of view], kapag nasa love team ka, mas sisikat ka. Mas mabilis kasi magtutulungan kayo paano umangat kaysa as an individual,” she said.

On the other hand, Kim Chiu said that the success of a loveteam also depends on finding the right partner. She stressed that if you find a perfect loveteam partner, achieving career heights is easier because there is a support system.

Right now, Kim is happy that the viewers have become more open to accepting that the reel is different from the real. “Hindi naman ibig sabihin kapag love team, kayo na talaga for life. Magpakasal na kayo, ‘yun na ‘yun,” she said.
