Regine Velasquez is indeed one of the OPM icons
Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez has this answer when asked about her legacy in the entertainment industry.
Regine is an OPM icon. Her songs and success as a singer are celebrated in the industry. Throughout her career, she has received recognition and appreciation for what she has done for the music scene in the Philippines.
One of the recent awards she received was from Billboard Philippines Women in Music. She received the Power House award.
Regine Velasquez has become an inspiration for many younger artists. Different artists have covered her songs. With her achievements, her star status is definitely being aspired by many.
She is aware that the time will come when the public will no longer remember her, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon. The singer knows that the industry is changing and popularity subsides but this does not worry her at all.
Regine does not mind her “legacy” in the industry. “Parati ‘pag may nagtatanong sa akin kung ano ‘yung iiwan kong legacy sa industriyang ito, parang feeling ko wala. Sa akin po kasi hindi masyadong importante kung meron man akong maiwan or wala. I know na makakalimutan ako kasi gano’n ‘yon and it’s fine,” she said.
The singer knows for a fact that there will be younger artists who will come after her. “Siyempre binibigay natin ang entablado sa mga susunod na henerasyong singers at songwriters,” the singer, who has been in the industry for four decades, said.
For her, the legacy that she will have is her son Nate who is turning 13 years old. Regine stressed that people will forget her and the things she has done but her son will definitely remember what she did. “My son is my legacy. Buti nga nagkaanak pa ako,” Regine emotionally said.
Meanwhile, Regine Velasquez posted a video sharing the reason why she will never let success rise in her head and be boastful. The singer shared a video of her stumbling and for her, even though she will become popular all over the universe, she will not “lalaki ang ulo.”
