Ogie Alcasid, Karylle On Returning To GMA Network

Ogie Alcasid and Karylle both came from GMA and transferred to ABS-CBN

It’s Showtime hosts Ogie Alcasid and Karylle had the chance to return to their former home network GMA-7.

Ogie was part of the longest-running gag show Bubble Gang. He also led the Kapuso Sunday musical variety show SOP, in which Karylle also became a host. The singer-actress also did several teleseryes on GMA such as the hit fantasy series Encantadia.

Just recently, both Ogie and Karylle returned to GMA, and it is because of the historic contract signing between It’s Showtime and the Kapuso network.

Starting April 6, the Kapamilya noontime show will be aired on GMA-7 and not just on GTV. The main host Vice Ganda called this opportunity a “pinakamalalang gift.” It is because he will be celebrating his birthday on the day they will start airing on the Kapuso network.

Ogie Alcasid hoped that this momentous collaboration would also give him the opportunity to reunite with his SOP co-hosts. In a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera, the seasoned singer-songwriter expressed joy to be back to his former home network.

Naluluha ako because of joy. Dito ako nanggaling noon, tapos ito at nakabalik ako. It’s an emotional journey. Sino ba ang makakapagsabi?” Ogie said. He also said that it would be nice to share the same stage with his former co-hosts.

“Maganda, magsama-sama kami for a great production number, we can relieve the old SOP days, that would be nice. Maybe nandiyan sina Jolina (Magdangal), sina Janno (Gibbs), Regine (Velasquez), Jaya. Maybe gagawin ko ‘yun sa birthday ko,” he shared.

For Karylle, it is a big blessing to be back at GMA. She said that it felt like a homecoming and she was overwhelmed by the warm welcome she received from the bosses. However, although Karylle was obviously happy about this, her fans expressed dismay on social media during the contract signing event. It is because of her supporters, she deserved to have her solo entrance.
