JACLYN JOSE – According to multiple media reports, Award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose has passed away on, March 3.

The local entertainment industry is mourning due to the shocking news of the passing of multi-awarded actress Jaclyn Jose. She passed away at her home in Quezon City last Saturday, March 2, 2024. She was 59.

The sad news was confirmed by PPL Entertainment, Inc., the talent management company that represents the veteran actress. The cause of the actress’s death was not mentioned in the statement.

However, Jaclyn Jose’s bereaved family members are requesting prayers for her soul and are asking for respect and privacy as they mourn her passing.

Their Facebook post on Monday morning, March 4, stated:

“It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose (real name Mary Jane Guck).

“More details will be shared as soon as they are available.

“The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose and for them to be allowed the respect and privacy to mourn her passing, and navigate these difficult times.”

Survived by her two children, daughter Andi Eigenmann and son Gwen Garimond, Jose, known by her real name Mary Jane Guck, was a seasoned actress. Her recent role was as Jail Chief Supt./BGEN Dolores Espinas in the TV series “Batang Quiapo.” Notably, she made history as the first Filipino actor to clinch the Best Actress award at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for her portrayal in Brillante Mendoza’s “Ma’ Rosa.” The acclaimed film depicted a mother running a small store, and getting involved in drug dealing to make ends meet.

Her last appearance was in the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Broken Heart’s Trip.” In addition to the prestigious Cannes accolade, Jose received multiple local awards, including five Gawad Urian awards, two Luna Awards, a FAMAS Award, and an MMFF award. Her remarkable career included collaborations with esteemed directors such as Lino Brocka and Chito Roño.
