On February 15, 2015, actress Heart Evangelista and Senator Chiz Escudero celebrated their extravagant wedding at Balesin Island Club. Heart looked stunning in a white gown inspired by Grace Kelly, and her older sister Camille Ongpauco served as the maid-of-honor.
In a recent February 15, 2024 event, Heart and Chiz renewed their vows at Balesin Island, recommitting to a lifetime together. Unfortunately, Heart’s father, Rey Ongpauco, couldn’t attend due to ongoing medical treatment in the United States.
It’s worth noting that Heart Evangelista’s parents, Cecile and Rey, had previously skipped the couple’s wedding at Balesin Island Resort nine years ago. At the time, the actress’ parents publicly expressed disapproval of the politician and alleged a few things about the senator. Cecile, however, attended the renewal ceremony, marking a significant moment in the family’s history.
Heart received a semblance of approval when a sincere letter from Rey was read during the couple’s wedding reception in 2015.
“If the time comes that we see that you and Chiz are happy and if I see him loving you the way you deserve to be loved, I will come knocking at your door,” part of Rey’s message for Heart.
Cecile’s lack of verbal expression indicated her reluctance to be involved in Heart and Chiz’s wedding initially.
In the present scenario, Cecile played a significant role in Heart and Chiz’s vow renewal ceremony. As they approached the altar’s end, Cecile shared a heartfelt embrace with Heart before sending her off to Chiz, marking a poignant moment for Heart, who has reconciled with her parents.
In May 2016, Heart even brought Cecile to Balesin to familiarize her with the resort where the actress had her 2015 wedding.
Since then, Cecile and Rey have voiced their support for the couple’s union. Cecile remained hopeful about Heart and Chiz’s relationship even during the reported marital challenges in 2022.
