Shocking news about Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun
On December 27, news broke out that Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun was found dead inside his car that was parked at Waryong Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Based on the report from Reuters, the South Korean actor who also appeared in the hit K-drama series Coffee Prince has been under investigation over illegal drug use allegations. This is amid an ongoing crackdown on illegal drugs initiated by the South Korean government.
South Korea is known for having tough laws when it comes to illegal drugs. Punishment of at least six months in prison or up to 14 years is given to repeat offenders and dealers. Lee was ordered not to leave the country while the investigation was ongoing.
The Parasite actor was found unconscious inside his car. He passed away in an apparent su!cide as on the passenger seat, authorities found briquettes. This came after his wife his wife actress Jeon Hye-jin reported to police that he left their host and she found what appeared to be a su!cide note.
Lee was 48 years old. He was born in 1975. In the movie Parasite, which won Best Picture at the 92nd Academy Awards, Lee played the role of a rich family’s father named Park Don-ik. Among the movies he did were the 2012 thriller “Helpless” and “All About My Wife” in 2014.
In 2021, he starred in Apple TV+’s first Korean-language original series “Dr. Brain”. It is a six-episode sci-fi thriller and the story revolves around the cold-hearted neurologist, Koh Se-won. His character tries to find clues to a mysterious family accident through brain experiments.
Lee also appeared in many dramas such as “Pasta,” “Loveholic,” “Golden Time,” “Miss Korea,” “Listen to Love,” “My Mister” and “Diary of a Prosecutor.” This year, he did the series “Payback.”
