Mark Magsayo Makes Rousing Super Featherweight Debut with 3rd Round Knock Out
Filipino boxer Mark “Magnifico” Magsayo knocks out Mexican foe during the 3rd round of his super feather weight debut bout.
Magsayo made a successful debut in the super featherweight division by knocking out Mexican opponent Isaac Avelar in their bout in Long Beach, California. This victory marked a triumphant return to the win column for the former champion after facing consecutive defeats in his previous two matches.
Magsayo suffered losses in his last two bouts against Brandon Figueroa for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Interim world featherweight title in March and against Rey Vargas for his WBC world featherweight title in July of the previous year, based on the report.
Demonstrating relentless determination throughout the entire fight, Magsayo secured the win at the 1:13 mark of the third round. Despite facing challenges, Avelar displayed resilience by landing punches of his own to engage Magsayo.
In a critical moment, as Avelar attempted to evade Magsayo, the Filipino boxer delivered a precise left hook that connected with Avelar’s chin. The impact led Avelar to drop stiff on the canvas, prompting the referee to halt the match.
Following the victory, Magsayo expressed his concern for Avelar’s safety, stating that he is “praying for the safety of Avelar.” “In the end, we are boxers and outside the ring we are brothers. We are fighing for our families and our countries. I hope Isaac is okay,” Magsayo posted on X.
